Dallam School is a state boarding school and Sixth Form for 11-19 year olds located in the rural countryside between two National Parks – The UNESCO Lake District World Heritage Site and the Yorkshire Dales - and has the Morecambe Bay coastline on the doorstep. It is easy to get to with the M6 motorway making travel time to nearby cities of Manchester and Liverpool just 90 minutes away, and London only three hours by high-speed train.
The school’s history dates back to 1613 with parts of the boarding house retaining some of the, now renovated, original buildings. Dallam’s motto – ‘Learning for all, learning for life’ enshrines their belief that education empowers students with the knowledge, skills and values they need to build a better future for themselves, their families and their community. Their experienced and enthusiastic faculty encourage students to think creatively and independently. Pastoral care at the school is excellent and is delivered through a dedicated team of non-teaching staff.
The boarding house is located just under two miles from the school with transport provided. The separation from the school helps students feel they are going home at the end of the school day. Students enjoy taking part in a broad range of educational, cultural and sporting activities through the school, and boarders also benefit from a dedicated programme of extra-curricular activities arranged by the houseparents and the student boarders through the Boarding Leadership Team. With Dallam’s ideal location on the edge of the Lake District, boarders can take advantage of fun outdoor adventures such as hiking, biking, paddleboarding and kayaking. Day trips to Manchester, Liverpool and Edinburgh are also within easy reach.
Bright World understands that parents and students want to be involved in the selection of their host family.
