ACE international student competition

null

The Dusemond ACE programme is a competition that's all about collaboration and collective input from children of mixed cultures and skillsets. They bring out the best in each other in a team-based, English speaking environment. The programme takes its name from the ethos of a past headmaster of Rugby School, who looked for 3 main qualities in all his pupils:

- Academic ability
- Competitive spirit and
- Energy to succeed

Rugby School

Rugby school

Rugby School is where the ACE programme originated and the spirit and values embodied by the school go hand in hand with this unique programme. Founded in 1567, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious boarding schools in the country. Every year the ACE Teams are inspired by the authentic tradition and beauty of the school and the sense of achieving something together in this special place. It's the perfect setting to showcase international talent.

a modular approach

Module 1 - Discussion and debate:

Students start by bringing together opinions about the present situation in the subject area we’ve assigned to their English level. They will generate discussion and debate by conducting a public survey, doing some market research and sharing their own ideas about what’s important to people around the world. As a team they must then use their analytical skills to identify what they think is the key area to focus on. The “Grand Debate” at the end of the module will be judged on how well teams present their conclusions.

Module 2 - Explore & Create

Looking into the near future, the teams now think about what they would do if they took charge of the current situation. They’ve done the research, now comes the action! What exactly needs to change or evolve and how do they aim to achieve it? Collaboration is key, as teams search for innovative solutions in a creative action plan that persuades the judges they’re the right team to lead us into the future!

Module 3 - Focus & Film

In Module 3 the team's action plan becomes a movement, looking to win public support and enthusiasm through a powerful marketing campaign. Specifically this year, teams will be briefed to create a promotional video as their main task, and in doing so will need to manage their time, collaborative input and editing. This final module culminates in a special screening of each team’s video, along with their supporting pitch to win the judges backing for their campaign.
