With the new term now underway, you might be forgiven for thinking that all is quiet in the land of boarding school placements. There is however never a dull moment in the admissions calendar. Enquiries and applications are already in full swing for next year, with parents anxious to secure a place at some of the UK’s top schools.

By the end of September, many high ranking independent schools will have closed registration to prospective students and will be making preparations for applicants to sit their entrance examinations. Testing will take place until November, followed, in most cases, by a Skype interview. Offers will then be made from December onward.
Anyone wanting to be able to apply to the highest ranked schools needs to act fast now.
high ranking is not necessarily the best
Although rankings and league tables give a good indicator of examination performance at both GCSE and A level, there is more to choosing the right school for your child. Not every student is a high flying academic and many students thrive in a less pressured environment.
They may be talented at drama, an accomplished musician or excel at sports. A school at the top of the league tables may not be the best fit, while a school that features lower in the rankings will still offer an excellent education and may help your child to realise their full potential.
