Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee

This year Queen Elizabeth II becomes the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service. A host of national celebrations were organised to recognise this amazing landmark and millions of British people across the UK organised their own local events.

The four day Platinum Jubilee celebration coincided with the half term break and so many of our students who were staying with their host family had the opportunity to get involved and take part in the occasion.

Elsa and Thee celebrated by attending a Street party, marking the milestone with their Bright World Buddy and Host Family, Lisa McGowan. The pair even made themed mugs especially for the occasion - a great souvenir for a day to remember we think!

In honour of the Jubilee, Stasia Jackson, Bright World Local Coordinator and host family, arranged sports day activities for her half term students. Marcus, Desmond and Angus enjoyed a friendly series of competitive events and ended proceedings with afternoon tea.
