Bright World is partnered with JUST ONE Tree

Every time a student enrols on our guardianship programme, a tree will be planted by JUST ONE Tree every year they are with us

helping to fulfil our Sustainability Pledge

JUST ONE Tree

Bright World continues to try and reduce it's carbon footprint and is constantly developing and trying to fulfil it's company Sustainability Pledge. This involves using digital brochures and handbooks, having an office policy of using sustainable materials and cleaning products, aiming to reduce travel times for our students to their host families and for staff to and from the office.

The company is also partnered with JUST ONE Tree to add to our efforts and because we understand the importance of protecting the natural world in which the students we care for will grow up.

who is JUST ONE Tree?

JUST ONE Tree - people reaching up in the ocean

JUST ONE Tree is a non-profit initiative removing CO2 from the atmosphere and reversing biodiversity loss through global reforestation.  They work with individuals, schools and businesses who help support their cause.

In turn, JUST ONE Tree support reforestation organisations around the globe, focusing on areas severely affected by mass deforestation.

Their partners work with communities that are committed to restoring their forests. Through training, education and employment they are lifted out of poverty, whilst simultaneously improving the environment.

JUST ONE Tree plant in Madagascar, Haiti, Kenya, Mozambique, Indonesia, Nepal and Zambia. The reason JUST ONE Tree plant in these areas is because scientific evidence highlights that planting forests nearer the equator has the greatest cooling effect on the planet. JUST One tree also plant kelp in the Oceans.

why plant trees?

Planting Mangroves

Trees are carbon sinks, absorbing the pollutants we humans put into the atmosphere. They clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, prevent soil erosion and flooding, give life to the world's wildlife, house complex ecosystems, supply us with medicine and provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people. They really are the superheroes of the planet and we need them in order to survive.

how does the partnership with Bright World work?

JUST ONE Tree Student Certificate

Every time a student completes their guardianship contract with us, we make a donation to JUST ONE Tree and they plant a tree. This includes students on both our boarding school and university and college guardianship programme and students who stay with us for a second and subsequent years. A tree will be planted for every year they are with us. Students and their parents will receive a certificate to confirm a tree will be planted and what impact that will have.

To plant the trees, JUST ONE Tree have teamed up with a network of reforestation partners in specific poverty stricken locations where they hire and train the local community members to plant the trees. The community members protect their new forests by watering, weeding, maintaining and monitoring the trees.
