One of our important responsiblities as a guardianship organisation taking care of international children, is to make sure that our staff, host families and drivers are all offered training in Safeguarding. It is so important that we all understand about safeguarding, child protection, what to look out for and what to do if we have concerns about a child.
Previously, it has been difficult to find a cost effective and convenient way to offer safeguarding training, not only to our Head Office staff and Local Coordinators but also to our large network of host families and drivers. Now, thanks to an amazing new platform that has been provided by Adam Lubbock of Kings River Education, what was previously difficult and costly has become easy and affordable.
Kings River Education have created an online course specifically for the guardianship sector and this is available to all Guardianship Organisations. We wanted something customised even more specifically towards Bright World, so we approached Kings River who set to work and we are delighted with the results.
We now send new members of staff or host families a link for them to login and create their username and password. Once this is done they are ready to get going with their online safeguarding course.
We all have very busy lives and it is sometimes lack of time that may stop us from committing to a course. The thought of having to sit for more than an hour to complete something with no interruptions can be impossible. With our online safeguarding course, this problem disappears. You can start the course and work your way through each section in your own time, saving your progress as you go along. There is no limit to the time you take between sections. This facility has made the course very popular amongst our host families and drivers, who have busy lives.
Safeguarding training can also be costly and Bright World is delighted to be covering the cost for all our staff, host families and drivers. This, we hope, will also encourage everyone to take part.
The course begins with a welcome message from our Managing Director who explains the importance of safeguarding, child protection and understanding the process we need to follow if we have concerns about a child. The course then works through section by section and covers a multitude of subjects such as:-
Jenny Rumble then ends the course with a message and explains that within the platform, users can also access Bright World policies that are referenced during the training.
Once the course is completed, successful participants will receive a certificate from Kings River Education that they can be proud of and count as an official safeguarding qualification.
We are so pleased that this new Safeguarding Training platform can bring our mission statement to life. Each and every person who we work with will be offered this valuable course and completion of the course helps to prove that they are all committed to keeping children safe from harm.
On today's episode, we are joined by Adam Lubbock, Director of Kings River Education and the provider of our new Safeguarding Training Platform for Host Families and Bright World Staff. Lana, Lia and Jenny discuss this exciting new development with Adam as we enter our third week since launching this amazing new dashboard.
