Bright World launches new Safeguarding Training online platform

the need for safeguarding awareness and training

family in safe hands

One of our important responsiblities as a guardianship organisation taking care of international children, is to make sure that our staff, host families and drivers are all offered training in Safeguarding. It is so important that we all understand about safeguarding, child protection, what to look out for and what to do if we have concerns about a child.

Previously, it has been difficult to find a cost effective and convenient way to offer safeguarding training, not only to our Head Office staff and Local Coordinators but also to our large network of host families and drivers. Now, thanks to an amazing new platform that has been provided by Adam Lubbock of Kings River Education, what was previously difficult and costly has become easy and affordable.

We are so pleased to see so many of our host families engaging with this fantastic new platform. It really shows how dedicated they are to keeping our students safe and happy when they stay with them. So far, after just two weeks of launch, over a quarter of our host family network has completed the course.

Kings River Education have created an online course specifically for the guardianship sector and this is available to all Guardianship Organisations. We wanted something customised even more specifically towards Bright World, so we approached Kings River who set to work and we are delighted with the results.

We now send new members of staff or host families a link for them to login and create their username and password. Once this is done they are ready to get going with their online safeguarding course.

what does the course involve?

The course begins with a welcome message from our Managing Director who explains the importance of safeguarding, child protection and understanding the process we need to follow if we have concerns about a child. The course then works through section by section and covers a multitude of subjects such as:-

  • recognising abuse
  • the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • disclosures and reporting
  • online abuse

Jenny Rumble then ends the course with a message and explains that within the platform, users can also access Bright World policies that are referenced during the training.

Once the course is completed, successful participants will receive a certificate from Kings River Education that they can be proud of and count as an official safeguarding qualification.
